There is no doubt that many will remember 2008 in years to come. For industry 2008 will be remembered as a year in two halves. The first half of the year brought the promises of the biggest resources boom in our lifetime to Western Australia. Many expected the boom would last at least another generation, even despite rumblings of a slowdown in the US. If the first half of the year was built on this optimism, the second half delivered a reality that was considerably different.
We are lucky in some ways that we stayed focused on our plan and although like most we did stretch a bit further than we would have liked to we did keep a lid on our growth to some degree.
So what was great about 2008: We received recognition for our dedication to training; being awarded the 2008 Training Company of the Year by the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF). We are proud to have been recognised for this prestigious award as the skills shortage throughout the civil construction industry has been at the highest level in many years. I am also proud to advise that we have continued to develop our internal quality systems to take up third party accreditation for both Safety and Environmental best practices. These two achievements coupled with our underlying commitment to provide our clients with innovative and safe work practices will hold us in good stead for 2009 and many years to come.
In closing I would like to wish you all a safe & happy new year.
Yours Sincerely
Peter Rowles
