Feeder Cables Osborne Park, Western Power

Underground Services Australia has recently completed two large Feeder Projects on Frobisher Street and Walters Drive that consisted of underground directional drilling of the overhead electricity distribution network for the Osborne Park Area.

Feeder cables are designed to supply direct underground power from a main substation to feed all the commercial and domestic requirements within a certain area. Since our suburbs are constantly expanding at an alarming rate people tend to forget the power requirements needed to maintain these areas.

The main streets that where involved in the construction of this technical network are Scarborough Rd, Sundercombe St, Howe St Frobisher St, Selby St, and Walters Drive for the Western Power Summer Ready Programme.

The works consisted of 2 cells that required the installation and commissioning of Switch gear, Transformers and 6050meters of 240mm2 HV power cables that were installed under the verges lawns roads and footpaths in each street using directional drilling. The challenges of such a large project where to ensure minimal disturbance to various Businesses along Scarborough Rd due to the time constraints and main traffic arteries in this busy area

The works started on the 5th of December 2005 and the Period for Practical Completion was the 29th of February.
