Optic Fibre Network Perth to Armadale

The scope of work was to design and construct an ACA compliant duct route from Perth to Armadale. USA also supplied, installed and tested specified optical fibre cables at locations along the Armadale Line between Claisebrook Relay Room and Armadale Station. The route distance is 29 kilometres of which 25 kilometres had to be designed and constructed and a variety of engineering solutions provided including the design of an innovative system for crossing existing bridges and watercourses. Underground Services provided trenching directional drilling, ducts, pits, bridges and river crossings, cable tails, termination panels and all other fixtures or fittings required to provide a complete, finished and working optical fibre cable distribution network.

All work was carried out on land designated as PTA railway reserve and within buildings owned or leased by PTA. Underground Services developed a rail Safety Management Plan and Work Method statements that met the extremely high safety requirements associated with working in the rail environment.
